Now available with 7-year warranty. Nitrogen Regulator for applications requiring delivery pressures of up to 5,000 Kpa (700 psi / 50 Bar). Especially suited for HVAC (air conditioning, refrigeration, etc) pressure testing & flushing. Extremely robust design to withstand the rigours of site work: Heavy duty rubber gauge covers protect gauges from impacts, impact-resistant knob & solid brass body. Type 50 (female) inlet connection for fitting to standard nitrogen cylinders. PLATINUM series, no quality short-cuts. Designed and manufactured by a team with over 40 years experience in gas equipment engineering.
If higher outlet pressure is required, see the Weldclass Extra-high pressure nitrogen regulator. -
Now available with 7-year warranty. Extra-high pressure (EHP) Nitrogen Regulator for applications requiring delivery pressures of up to 28,000 Kpa (4,000 psi / 280 Bar). Robust design to withstand the rigours of site work. Fitted with Type 50 (female) inlet for connection to standard nitrogen cylinders and supplied with additional Type 51 inlet for connection to EHP (extra high pressure) cylinders if required. PLATINUM series, no quality short-cuts. Designed and manufactured by a team with over 40 years experience in gas equipment engineering.
What is a Nitrogen Regulator? | What Does a Nitrogen Gas Regulator Do?
Nitrogen Regulators connect to nitrogen gas cylinders and reduce the pressure from full cylinder pressure (up to 40,000kpa) down the required outlet or working pressure. The outlet pressure will depending on the regulator model chosen, typically ranging from a maximum outlet of 1,000kpa through to 28,000 Kpa (4,000 psi / 280 Bar).
Nitrogen regulators are used in many applications and industries, including; HVAC (air conditioning), manufacturing (chemicals, food preservation, pharmaceuticals, electronics), tyre inflation (especially aircraft tyres) and much more.
Nitrogen Regulator Cylinder Fittings / Connections
In Australia, Nitrogen cylinder regulators are available with two types of inlet (cylinder) connections;
Type 50: Female nut (connects to male thread on the cylinder), for connection to standard nitrogen cylinders (full pressure approximately 30,000kpa)
Type 51: Male nut (connects to female thread on the cylinder), for use with extra-high-pressure (EHP) nitrogen cylinders (full pressure approximately 40,000kpa)
Common Uses for Nitrogen Gas Regulators
Here are some common uses for nitrogen gas and nitrogen regulators:
HVAC Systems: Leak Detection and Purging: Used for leak detection in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and for purging lines to remove contaminants and moisture.
Laser and Plasma Cutting Systems: Nitrogen is used as the high-pressure cutting gas and/or shielding gas in some laser and plasma torch systems used on CNC cutting machines, such as CNC plasma tables, CNC laser tables, etc.
Tyre Inflation: Nitrogen regulators are used to inflate tyres with nitrogen, which maintains tire pressure better than air and reduces oxidation of the tire materials.
Welding and Metalworking: Used to provide an inert atmosphere to prevent oxidation and contamination during welding processes.
Food and Beverage: Employed in food packaging and preservation to extend shelf life by preventing spoilage and oxidation.
Pharmaceuticals: Utilized in the production and packaging of drugs to maintain a sterile environment.
Chemical Analysis: Provides a stable nitrogen supply for gas chromatography and other analytical techniques.
Controlled Environments: Used to create inert atmospheres in glove boxes and other controlled environments to prevent reactions with atmospheric gases.
Cryopreservation: Used in medical and biological research for the preservation of tissues, cells, and other biological samples at very low temperatures.
Surgical Tools: Helps power certain surgical instruments that require nitrogen gas.
Electronics Manufacturing & Soldering: Creates an inert atmosphere for soldering to prevent oxidation of sensitive electronic components.
In all these applications, nitrogen regulators ensure that the nitrogen gas is delivered at the correct pressure and flow rate, enhancing safety, efficiency, and the quality of the processes involved.
