Welding Blankets PROMAX WB1000
PROMAX WB1000 is a ‘medium duty’ welding blanket made from
high-temperature fabric for protection against grinding sparks, medium-to-heavy welding spatter, etc. Also used for heat treatment / stress relieving / heat retention (wrapping of heated objects to slow cooling). Specially treated glass fibre to withstand up to 800°c long duration & 1000°c short duration exposure, and to improve insulating properties. Strong, durable, and abrasion-resistant, with heavier weight for longer service life.

KEY FEATURES
- ‘Medium duty’ high-temperature welding blanket
- Specially treated glass fabric for higher temperature resistance
- Withstands up to 800°c long duration / 1000°c short duration exposure
- For protection against medium-to-heavy sparks & spatter, etc
- Provides higher temperature resistance than standard glass fibre fabric, without the higher cost of silica
- Also used for heat treatment / stress relieving / heat retention (wrapping of heated objects to slow cooling)
- Gives off very minimal gas/fumes when burned, for safer use and to prevent surface contamination when used to wrap objects
- Strong and abrasion resistant
- Heavier weight / thickness for longer service life, durability, and better insulating properties
APPLICATION INFO*
- For protection against sparks, spatter, and intermittent/passing flame
- Suitable for protecting objects during grinding, welding, oxy cutting, gouging, etc
- Also used for heat treatment / stress relieving (wrapping of heated objects to slow cooling)
- Good strength, durability and abrasion-resistance make the WB1000 a good choice for rugged environments
- Withstands intermittent short-duration flame exposure, however not recommended for prolonged / constant direct flame exposure. For resistance against longer-duration flame exposure, Promax WB1100 is more suitable.
SPECIFICATIONS
- Max recommended working temperature / exposure: 800°c
- Max short term / momentary heat resistance: ~1000°c
- Nominal Thickness: 1.5mm (~3mm at hem)
- Nominal Weight: 1,100g/m2
- Colour: Golden brown
- Base fabric: Glass fibre
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
- If protecting critical or costly surfaces / items, allways use more layers initially, and test on a non-critical surface first
- When using for surface protection: If possible use on an incline of at least 15 degrees, or when neccessary to use in horizontal position add more layers
- Where the blanket is in closer proximity to the source of sparks etc, consider adding more layers of blanket/fabric as the sparks/spatter will have less time to cool and will be at a higher temperature at the point of touching/impact with the blanket
- Use hand, eye and respiratory protection during handling and use, to protect against airborn fibres and any dust/debris that has fallen on the blanket during use
- While blanket will withstand up to 800-1,000°c , a safety margin should always be allowed for, especially in critical applications. Recommended maximum long-duration direct contact temperature exposure is 600-700°c.
- Consider using WB1100 or WB1250+ blankets for more demanding applications
- Worn or damaged blankets will compromise protection and should be replaced
