“ Hi there,
Last year at the age of 60 I decided to build a granny flat for my daughter who just announced she was pregnant. Living in Darwin and with cyclone coding, most buildings are constructed of steel – a lot of it. I needed a welder, and on the recommendation of Totalweld in Palmerston I purchased the Weldclass 180 MST package, which included an angle grinder, welding gloves, helmet, 2 rolls of wire, pliers and a few other bits and pieces. I was told Weldclass is an all Australian owned company and that made the difference when it came time to purchase.
This little unit and the angle grinder cut and welded an entire house of steel – no kidding. From huge bearer beams 200x100x5mm right down to all the steel wall frames, top and bottom plates, studs and noggings, there were hundreds of meters of it. This unit did not miss a beat!
I was a complete novice welder at the beginning, but this welder made the job look professional. It was so easy to use.
You can see just how much steel has been used in this construction. The welding was made so much easier because I could simply carry up the welder onto scaffold decks and at my age this was a major consideration. To cap it off the grinder went on to hand cut ceramic tiles for the entire the house!
I ended up using;
15 x 4.5kg wire spools Weldclass wire (gasless).
10 tips
50-60 cutting disks
4-5 grinding disks
In conclusion, I could not be happier with this purchase. Most people who own a welder will never weld this much in a lifetime and the fact this unit worked day after day for months in hot and humid weather without skipping a beat is a testimony to just how robust and versatile this unit is. I am rapt with it. My next purchase will be the Weldclass plasma cutter to build a trailer and some machinery parts for the block.
I can only say two thumbs up and a 10 out of 10 for a brilliant and affordable welder that punches well above its weight.
Thanks! ”

“ I have only had my 180 welder for approximately a month now which i use when iam at the farm, i have used a full packet of rods and a full role of gasless wire what a mighty welder. The welder is used for repairs on the ploughs is great for the light repairs on the seeder ends 2-3mm metal and is very capable to weld the heaver repairs the 6mm brackets and general welding in the farm workshop, in the field it works well on a 10 kva generator and is light to carry around to get into those confined spaces where something usually breaks. The other thing that is amazing the weld class mig tips and shrouds they just keep going i have not replaced the original ones that came with the welder it is just an amazing welder and would recommend it to everybody. cheers a great purchase very happy. ”

“ Simple easy to use. Smooth welding. A little cramped fiddly installing wire, however that's to be expected in such a compacted unit which is great for moving around on job sites. ”

“ Good to purchase from an Australian company and also impressed with the information regarding duty cycle and your adherence to Australian standards. I like the light weight and being able to move it around the backyard when changing welding spots not having to drag a gas bottle. I like the solid MIG hand piece and ease of setup.”
